Calvert MMA Academy: GRACIE JIU-JITSU SELF DEFENSE

Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was created for self-defense and survival in life threatening situations, allowing a smaller, weaker individual to overcome an attack from a larger and stronger person. Through the use of technique, timing, and leverage; anyone, of any age, size, or skill, can defend themselves with maximum efficiency and minimal effort. This program is designed to empower you to effectively defend yourself, and loved ones in life threatening situations. This class is geared toward skills for realistic, 100% effective, lifesaving self-defense techniques, not competitions. However, classes are taught in a fun and completely safe environment. Neither age, conditioning, or experience is a prerequisite. The classes follow a rotating curriculum, and students learn over 130 techniques. Classes are taught by presenting a problem, showing a simple solution, with student drills to master the techniques, building muscle memory and reflexes to prepare them to react properly in a self-defense situation. Most students are amazed at how simple, easy, and effective our techniques are. All techniques are based on the theory of natural body movement.
